Posting Rules
DRAFT — awaiting product-owner approval. This page has not been reviewed by a lawyer, does not constitute legal advice, and must not be treated as approved legal documentation.
These rules apply to every notice published on The Hockey Board. They exist to keep the boards genuine, safe and useful for the whole hockey community.
Questions about these rules can be sent to hockeyuncut@gmail.com, the plain-text address shown on our Contact page.
Genuine opportunities only
- Every notice must describe a genuine opportunity: a real job or role, a real fixture request, a real tournament, camp, coaching opening or umpiring requirement.
- Post one notice per opportunity. Do not post the same notice repeatedly.
- Complete all required fields for the board you are posting on, so readers can make informed decisions.
Personal information
- Enter personal contact details (email addresses, telephone numbers, or disguised versions such as “name at provider dot com” or “zero seven…”) only in the designated Contact Information section of the publishing form. The publishing system blocks contact details that appear in a notice title or description, including disguised versions.
- In the Contact Information section you choose, field by field, whether each detail is hidden, visible to registered users only, or public. You control authorised visibility, subject to the platform's rules: details you mark hidden stay hidden, and details that would expose a child stay off the boards entirely.
- Give a broad public location only, such as a town or city. Never include a home address, workplace address or any other precise private location.
- Individual listings (players available, and umpires offering their availability) must not include links to personal websites or social profiles in the notice text.
- Example: a club advertising a coaching vacancy lists the club website in the designated website field, and puts the chair's email in the contact email field set to registered users only. The vacancy description itself names no one and contains no email address or phone number.
Junior safeguarding
- Junior hockey opportunities are welcome on the platform, but they must be published by a club, school, association or other responsible organisation, not by an individual.
- Never include an individual child's personal information in a notice: no child's name combined with contact details, no private residential addresses, and no photographs of identifiable children.
- Age-group labels such as U12, U14, U16 and U18 are permitted, because they describe a group and do not identify individual children.
- Camps, courses and coaching notices aimed at juniors should describe the welfare and safeguarding arrangements in the notice details (for example, qualified coaching and DBS-checked supervision).
- Adults must not use the Players Available board to advertise on behalf of a child. The publishing system blocks junior listings on that board; junior recruitment belongs on the Player Recruitment board, posted by a responsible organisation.
Contact visibility
- You control who sees each contact field: hidden, registered users only, or everyone. “Registered” is recommended for most notices.
- Public organisation website links and registration or application links are welcome in their designated fields.
Prohibited content
- Notices must not be unlawful, discriminatory, misleading, defamatory or abusive.
- Financial-scheme, gambling, betting and cryptocurrency-related content is prohibited. Notices containing it are held for review and rejected.
- Do not impersonate another person or organisation, and do not post on behalf of an organisation without permission to do so.
Dates, expiry and closing notices
- Notices carry an expiry date, based on the dates you provide or the board's default window. Expired notices stop appearing in public search results.
- Close your notice from My Account when it is no longer needed, and tell us how it went. Renewing keeps a still-relevant notice visible.
- Significant edits to a live notice are re-checked and may be held for review before they appear again.
Reporting concerns
- Anyone, registered or not, can raise a safeguarding or privacy concern about a notice. Registered users can use the Report link on any notice. If you are not registered, email hockeyuncut@gmail.com (shown as plain text on our Contact page; copy it into your own email application).
- If someone is in immediate danger, contact the emergency services on 999, or your local police, first. The noticeboard's reporting process is not an emergency service and is not monitored continuously, so do not rely on it for urgent situations.
- Safeguarding and privacy reports are treated as the highest priority by administrators.
Moderation
- Every submission passes automated validation checks: required fields, prohibited content and rules that keep personal contact details out of notice text. Notices that pass these checks are published straight away; others are held for administrator review before they appear. This means not every notice is checked by a person before publication.
- Hockey Uncut CIC may review notices, request changes, reject publication, hide or remove inappropriate content, restrict publishing rights, and suspend accounts where necessary. Decisions are recorded, and you receive an in-app notification explaining the decision for your notice.
- Repeated rule-breaking can lead to publishing restrictions on your account.
