Terms and Conditions
DRAFT — awaiting product-owner approval. This page has not been reviewed by a lawyer, does not constitute legal advice, and must not be treated as approved legal documentation.
These terms govern your use of The Hockey Board, a free community noticeboard for UK field hockey operated by Hockey Uncut CIC.
About these terms
- By registering or posting a notice you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.
- Questions about these terms can be sent to hockeyuncut@gmail.com, the plain-text address shown on our Contact page.
- These terms are a draft awaiting product-owner approval and have not yet been reviewed by a lawyer.
Version control
- Document version: Draft 2.0.
- Last updated: 14 October 2026.
- Effective date: to be set when the product owner approves these terms.
Eligibility and accounts
- Registration is restricted to adults aged 18 or over. By registering you confirm that you are 18 or over. Visitors can browse public notices without registering.
- Individual “Players Available” notices are restricted to adults aged 18 or over; the publishing system asks you to confirm this before the notice can be published.
- Junior recruitment opportunities must be posted through a responsible club, school or organisation, not by an individual on behalf of a child. This does not mean everyone advertised on the site has to be an adult: junior players, fixtures and camps can be advertised on the site when posted by the organisation responsible for them.
- Keep your login credentials secure and do not share your account. One account per person or responsible organisation contact.
The service
- The service is free to use: free to post notices and free to browse them.
- It is a noticeboard. We do not employ anyone, place anyone, run events or act as an agent for any party. We do not verify every notice and cannot guarantee that listings are accurate, current or genuine.
Publisher responsibilities
- You are responsible for the notices you publish. This means you are responsible for: the accuracy of the information in your notices; having permission to represent any organisation you name; keeping your notices up to date; providing genuine opportunities; having appropriate safeguarding arrangements for any opportunity involving children or adults at risk; complying with applicable laws; and closing notices when the opportunity has been fulfilled.
- You keep ownership of the content you publish, and grant us a licence to display it on the service while your notice is active.
- Contact details must be entered only in the protected Contact Information section, never in the publicly visible text of a notice.
- The Hockey Board provides the advertising platform. It does not automatically verify the suitability or legitimacy of every opportunity, and you remain responsible for your notices.
Acceptable use
- Do not post unlawful, discriminatory, misleading, defamatory, obscene or abusive content, and do not harass other users.
- Prohibited content includes financial-scheme, gambling, betting and cryptocurrency-related material, which is held for review and rejected.
- Do not impersonate others, scrape the service abusively, attempt to circumvent posting limits, or use the service for anything unrelated to the hockey community.
Moderation, listing removal and account restrictions
- New notices may be held for administrator review before publication. Administrators may request changes to, reject, hide, remove or restore any notice, and the decision is recorded with a reason.
- We may restrict, suspend or limit publishing rights on an account that breaches these rules or the Posting Rules. The reason is recorded and communicated to you in-app.
- There is no entitlement to publication. We may remove notices that breach these terms without prior warning where necessary.
External links
- Notices may contain links to external websites and registration or application pages. These are provided by publishers.
- We do not control external websites and are not responsible for their content, availability, safety or privacy practices. Follow external links at your own discretion.
Liability
- The service is provided “as is” and “as available”. We do not guarantee that any notice will lead to employment, player recruitment, fixtures, umpire appointments or event participation; the quality or safety of any opportunity advertised; or that the website will be continuously available or free from errors.
- We are not responsible for the accuracy of notices, or for arrangements or agreements made between users as a result of a notice.
- Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
- Subject to the previous bullet, and to the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from your use of, or inability to use, the service, and our total liability to you for all other claims connected with the service is limited to £100.
- This liability section is flagged for legal review before these terms are approved, including the appropriateness of the monetary cap.
Governing law
- These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
Changes to these terms
- We may update these terms and will publish the updated version on this page, with the version and date shown above.
- If a change significantly affects registered users, we may also tell you about it through an in-app notification.
- Where applicable law requires your consent or explicit acceptance before a change takes effect, we will obtain it before the change applies to you. We do not send automated emails about changes to these terms.
